Why We Exist
IT STARTED WITH LONELINESS.
Growing up in the UK, I didn't have many Muslim friends.
The Muslims I knew were often isolated. We would see each other at the mosque, but outside of that there wasn't much opportunity to spend time together or build lasting friendships.
Like many young people, I wanted to go out, meet people and enjoy life. But I didn't know where to find a Muslim community that was doing those things.
So, like many others, I started looking elsewhere.
THERE HAD TO BE A BETTER WAY.
When I searched for things to do, I found myself using mainstream event platforms.
They offered thousands of events.
But they weren't built for Muslims.
Alongside community activities were dating events, nightlife, alcohol-centred experiences and other events that didn't reflect my values.
The problem wasn't that these platforms existed.
The problem was that Muslims had never been given a platform built around their own values.
I realised we deserved better.
WHAT IF WE BUILT OUR OWN?
Not another event platform.
Not another social network.
Not another ticketing website.
A place built by Muslims.
For Muslims.
A place where discovering an event doesn't mean filtering through things that don't represent your values.
A place where having fun and practising your faith can exist together.
That question became HAAA'MEEM.
MORE THAN EVENTS.
HAAA'MEEM is about the friendships that begin because of an event.
The conversations after football.
The coffee that becomes mentorship.
The hike that becomes lifelong friendship.
The business event that creates a new opportunity.
The charity event that changes someone's life.
We're not building a calendar.
We're helping build stronger Muslim communities.
